Last weekend saw us play just the one gig, but as they say, it’s quality and not quantity.

We were back in north Northumberland at the very beautiful Doxford Hall near Embleton. Despite being beautiful and the perfect backdrop for wedding photos it has a notoriously tough load in. Just ask any DJ or wedding band. It’s like a stage from the world’s strongest man competition only we are musicians and not the world’s strongest men (some people would say we aren’t even men). Anyway, a lot of puffing, panting and cursing later and we finally got the gear in and played for the wedding of Hamish and Jo. We had a great night made all the worthwhile when we chatted to the lovely couple and were thanked by them at the end of the night. We’d like to wish them all the best for the future and hope to see you at a gig in the not too distant future.

This week we are playing a wedding at Lartingdon Hall in Teesdale, Couny Durham and have our first public gig in what seems like an age. It’s at The Marquis of Granby in Sunniside, Gateshead on Friday. We’ve never played at this venue before so not sure what to expect but we hear it has a good reputation for live music so are looking forward to it! If you find yourself with nothing better to do then come down, we start at nine. We’ve just bought some new lights to add to our collection so if the music doesn’t impress you at least the lights might.

This One Goes To Twelve

We were disappointed not to be playing any weddings this weekend as it meant no buffet food and no pretty girls in dresses but it was made up for slightly by playing two great North East pubs that have a good reputation for live music. The first was the Cumberland Arms in Bishop Auckland (or Bish Vegas as we like to call it). The second was at The Ox Inn, Stanley, a great venue with the locals to match.

There’s loads going on for us at the minute. We’ve just been told we’ll be playing at As You Like It, Jesmond, on Friday May 31st. It’s a venue we’ve wanted to play for some time so cannot wait for that gig. See the events page for more info.

We’re in the process of buying some bright, flashy, swirly lights to make us look even cooler (we didn’t think it was possible either) and we are looking to upgrade our PA system to make us sound even better (that we can’t believe). Apparently this PA system doesn’t just go to eleven, this one goes to twelve. (pat yourself on the back if you’re cool enough to get that one)
