The first was a public gig at The Marquis of Granby, a pub that sits at the side of the A692 between Lobley Hill and Sunniside in Gateshead. It’s isolated location gives the pub a certain charm but means it’s a bit of a trek for the punters. We managed to round up 10 or so friends with nothing better to do and got them down for the night and when added to the 10 or so other customers in the pub you could almost say we had a crowd. Regardless of the numbers we had a good night, it was good to be back doing a pub gig in the North East and it looks like we have scored another wedding after talking to a couple at the end of the evening!

Saturday saw us trek down to Barnard Castle for Simon and Nicola’s wedding at Lartington Hall, a new venue on the wedding circuit. We were really impressed with the venue which is as beautiful they come. Equally impressive was the owners, John and Shona’s enthusiasm for their new business. It’s not often you see the owners of a venue like Lartington Hall rolling up their sleeves and being quite so hands on like the rest of their staff in an effort to ensure a great day. On Sunday we swapped the high tea and champagne of Lartington for the larger and pork scratchings of Byker Bottom Club but we couldn’t be happier. We dusted off some old classics from The Jam, The Clash and the like and rolled them out for a highly appreciative audience.

Next weekend is another triple for us with two functions before finishing at The Cumberland Arms in Bishop Auckland, County Durham on Sunday evening. See you Sunday Bish-Vegas!

We were back in north Northumberland at the very beautiful Doxford Hall near Embleton. Despite being beautiful and the perfect backdrop for wedding photos it has a notoriously tough load in. Just ask any DJ or wedding band. It’s like a stage from the world’s strongest man competition only we are musicians and not the world’s strongest men (some people would say we aren’t even men). Anyway, a lot of puffing, panting and cursing later and we finally got the gear in and played for the wedding of Hamish and Jo. We had a great night made all the worthwhile when we chatted to the lovely couple and were thanked by them at the end of the night. We’d like to wish them all the best for the future and hope to see you at a gig in the not too distant future.

This week we are playing a wedding at Lartingdon Hall in Teesdale, Couny Durham and have our first public gig in what seems like an age. It’s at The Marquis of Granby in Sunniside, Gateshead on Friday. We’ve never played at this venue before so not sure what to expect but we hear it has a good reputation for live music so are looking forward to it! If you find yourself with nothing better to do then come down, we start at nine. We’ve just bought some new lights to add to our collection so if the music doesn’t impress you at least the lights might.

We intended to have last weekend off but our friend Ian at Millenium Events, master of all things party related, asked us to play a summer party for the Gateshead TA. We’ve played a few dos for the forces and know that they turn into a total blast so decided to return to work early, and we were glad we did. Not only was the party great, we were treated to the greatest BBQ we’ve ever tasted courtesy of her Majesty’s Armed Forces. In fact, out of all buffets we’ve sampled at some of the regions poshest places, we can safely say this was the tastiest scran we’ve ever had! Thanks to all the guys at Gateshead TA for making us feel so welcome!

It’s mainly weddings for us for the rest of the month. Outside of gigs we are still working on our video which we hope to have for you soon as well as some other exciting treats!

On Saturday night we were pleased to be playing the wedding of Helen and Matt at The New Exchange in North Shields. When Helen booked us she explained that our set was perfect for her wedding and she wasn’t wrong. Everyone seemed to really enjoy our set which led us to believe that Helen and Matt’s guests must have had a really good taste in music. Sadly there are exceptions to the rules, in this case the two girls that asked / forced us to play Ant and Dec’s Let’s Get Ready to Rumble during our DJ set. Our PA speakers are still recovering from playing such filth!
